Graphic Design is all about making businesses look good. It is commercial art - a vital part of advertising that works off the principle that a picture paints a thousand words.
Design involves understanding the client's company and what their customers want to see. The job is to invent a concept that'll convey the message quickly. First you have to get people's attention, then ensure they remember what they see. Their interest must be rewarded. To do this, the graphics that result from the creative concept are arranged pleasingly on a page or screen.
These elements are photography, typography and illustration. Also included are items such as existing company logos. They must become a harmonious part of the design. The graphic designer must have a working knowledge of these elements to achieve the right effect. This comes from many years of personal interest, academic study and pressurised experience. As with anything else, it comes from learning through trial and error. It takes years to develop the ability to wow the customer.
This portfolio contains work done as a freelance graphic designer, and also for design studios and ad agencies. Included are samples of logo design, brochures and posters. Also include are corporate invitation, packaging and exhibition stand designs.
