I've enjoyed art since I was a kid. Actually it's about all I did when I was growing up. I started my career drawing story boards for TV ads at J Walter Thompson, an ad agency in Johannesburg. When I moved on to Art Direction, I carried on doing all my own stuff.

On display is a small selection. These days I mostly do it digitally, but I can also handle Magic Marker, pen & ink, pencil, acrylic, watercolour and airbrush.

I have a fairly wide range of styles in my portfolio. These include cartoons and caricatures, painterly, airbrushed and vector effects. These are used for anything from murals and posters, to annual reports, clothing and book illustrations.

Tee-shirt illustration
I did a number of tee-shirt designs for a US military supplier (J&A Marketing). Above: for the launch of USS New York, a warship. Below: for sale to members of I Corps, an army unit.

Airbrushed cartoons
This t-shirt proposal had to appeal to 18-25 year-old soldiers. It was based on a t-shirt which I did for a friend's punk band when I was a graphic design student (many years ago!).

Airbrushed tee shirt illustration

T-Shirt design for the US Navy. They ran a course for senior Non-Commissioned Officers, and this tee-shirt was given to those attending it. I tried to make the feathers look like daggers, in keeping with the martial theme.

This drawing was for a company in the United States that sells camping equipment. The theme was "Be Prepared," thus the Minuteman.

Illustrations for books, annual reports and calendars. These vector drawings were used in Cape Town Tourism's Annual Report.

    A web design for a South African tourism place. The theme of the back packers is Tolkien-ish. The web graphics had to reflect this. Also includes copy writing and basic search engine optimization.
