A web site design for a youth hostel on South Africa's Wild Coast. It deals with the international youth tourist market. The graphics had to convey a fun and energy, which is what the hostel's guests are looking for. Many (or most ) of the guests look at the site before arriving. So the job was to sell the place to them upfront, and have them arrive in a festive mood, ready to try the activities on offer.
The project included search engine optimisation, to generate extra bookings. It also has a downloadable pdf brochure and map of South Africa with a route planner. These are downloaded each month by people who are planning their holidays. The thinking was that many of them would arrive in South Africa with the maps and brochures printed, having already decided to visit (or at least be aware of) The Coffee Shack at an early stage in their preparations.

This has had a positive impact on the hostel's business. Below are stats for the first 5 months of the site's operation - there was a 300% increase in website visitors and 400% increase in bookings through the site. These figures continue to grow:
